The Magura RACE PRO is the most powerful and precise brake Magura has ever built. CNC machined from forged aluminum, it delivers full downhill stopping power at a cross-country weight of just 310g per brake, making it Magura’s new flagship for riders who refuse to choose between power and weight.
At its heart is Magura’s legendary radial master cylinder, actuated toward the handlebar and paired with a sharp leverage ratio that turns every bit of finger force into aggressive braking power. A ball-bearing lever pivot and low-friction piston bore keep the lever feel exceptionally smooth, so you get full power for late braking points with less hand effort to fight arm pump. On Magura’s test bench, the RACE PRO produces 16% more braking force than the GUSTAV PRO with the same pads and rotor size.
Power is only half the story. A unique constant leverage ratio across the entire lever throw keeps modulation linear and predictable, with no on/off feeling. A 12mm master piston and four 19mm caliper pistons run at lower hydraulic pressure, which means less hose expansion, a clearly defined bite point, and the same consistent feel front and rear, even with long hoses. Combined with the stiff one-piece forged caliper, Magura calculates 20% less lever flex than the MT7.

Our thoughts:
The RACE PRO fills the gap between the MT7 and the GUSTAV PRO. You get more power than a GUSTAV PRO in a package that weighs about the same as an MT7, with a noticeably lighter lever feel. Riders who put their brakes under sustained, extreme loads (big bikes, long alpine descents) may still prefer the GUSTAV PRO for its extra thermal reserves, but for most enduro and DH riders, this is the new benchmark from Magura.
